Stylish family friendly holiday accommodation in South West France

To help you plan your holiday, here are some answers to questions guests often ask us:

1. How far is the nearest boulangerie/restaurant/shop?

The nearest village is a 2 minute drive with a well stocked Coop and boulangerie. There is a restaurant/bar and pizzeria (eat in or takeaway) just a 5 minute walk away. We’ve timed it.

2. Is there a BBQ?

Mais oui!

3. Is there Wi-Fi

Yes. This is usually very reliable but, as with all technology, there can be the odd blip.

4. Is the pool heated?

Yes. We aim for 29°C although temperatures can vary according to climatic conditions. The pool is electrically heated and therefore the temperature is much more consistent than with solar heating which only works when the sun is shining.

5. Le Cognassier or Le Cerisier?

That’s a tough one that we can’t really answer. It would be like choosing between our children. Both are equally well equipped and interiors vary only in their colour schemes. Le Cerisier has a private garden with a dedicated parking space right next door so this may be your gite of choice if you have a sleeping baby to carry to and from the car. Le Cognassier also has a private garden which leads on to the main garden so may be better if you need to keep one eye on your toddler playing on the swings while stoking up the BBQ. Both are perfectly suitable for children, and adults of all ages.

6. How far is the nearest beach?

45 minutes drive. We’ve timed that too.

7. Are linen and towels included?

Yes. We provide bedding, bath towels, tea towels and bath mats but please bring your own swimming/beach towels. If you are flying and the suitcase is bulging at the seams we may be able to bend the rules on the beach towels and provide you with some. If you are planning to use fake tan or hair dyes while here, please be sure to bring spare towels/sheets to use as any stained linen will be charged for.

8. Is cleaning included?

Yes. And no. We ask our guests to leave the gite clean and tidy on departure. This means wiping down surfaces, emptying the dishwasher, cleaning and putting away all crockery/cutlery, cleaning the BBQ, wiping down highchairs, emptying all rubbish and putting any furniture back where it belongs. We allow for a general clean but if a much deeper clean is required (e.g. washing of sofa covers ) a charge will be levied.

9. What do I need to bring with me?

We provide cleaning products, a couple of toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets to get you started. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance so we have provided plug ins and some refills (you can buy more of these locally if you need to). Oh, and of course the all important bottle of champagne to get your holiday off to a good start!

10. Do you have a Facebook page or Blog?

11. What will the weather be like?

I wish we could guarantee perfect weather for you - but that is out of our control! What I can tell you is....

In general, we don’t experience the really sizzling temperatures of the south. Spring is warm and Summer hotter. In May, June and September 20-25°C is normal, in July and August 25- 32°C is normal. Here’s a link to see historical weather for 2014.

12. What else do I need to know?

Rural France enjoys a slower pace of life. That’s why we like it. Restaurants are happy to wait for you to finish a leisurely lunch. The roads make driving a pleasure.

We are here if you need us, discreet if you don’t. We like a glass of wine. Or two.
